I am John Peter Oyston, born October 14, 1956, at RAF Cosford in the Midlands. I was brought up in the Air Force, travelling to Aden and Germany as a child. My father is Wing Commander John Kenneth Oyston, an orthopaedic surgeon, who is now retired and lives in Halifax, Yorkshire. His father was Harry Oyston, a maths and physics teacher in Low Fell, near Newcastle on Tyne. He served in the second battle of the Somme. My uncle, Derek, was a also a teacher in Low Fell.

I went to Medical school in Newcastle on Tyne, then worked in Hull, in Hamilton, New Zealand, and in Newcastle before emigrating to Toronto, Canada, in January 1987. I now work as an anaesthetist in Orillia, Ontario. My CV is available on the net.

My wife is Meg Lloyd-Jones. We have two children, Grant Patrick Oyston (May 4, 1992) and Kate Rhiannon Oyston (July 17, 1994).
